Nissan Pathfinder Engines for Sale
The Nissan Pathfinder has been around since 1986. It is built on Nissan’s truck chassis, making it extremely durable. It’s a bit pricey, but considering it’s durable track record, it’s well worth a few more dollars at the dealership. It’s an SUV designed to compete with the Toyota 4Runner, Isuzu Trooper, Misubishi Montero and Chevy Blazer. To be honest about it, I was somewhat surprised to see how many Nissan Pathfinder engines for sale when I was looking through an engine application guide.
The first generation Pathfinder was not very fancy, made from 1986.5-1995 [code WD21], it was designed as a dual purpose inexpensive utility vehicle. There were plenty of engine options available at the time. Here is the list of engines, i borrowed it from Wiki.
2.4 L Z24 I4
106 hp (79 kW)
2.4 L KA24E I4
140 hp (100 kW)
3.0 L VG30i V6
145 hp (108 kW)
3.0 L VG30E V6
153 hp (114 kW)
2.7 L TD272 I4 Diesel
84 hp (63 kW)
2.7 L TD27T2 I4 Turbodiesel

2.7 L TD27T4 I4 Turbodiesel

Remember that this is the entire lineup of engines offered in the 1st Gen Pathfinders, it does not mean that all of these motors were offered in every year and model Pathfinder from ‘86.5 to ’95. You can see that diesel engines were in the lineup at this time as well. It’s a very thorough lineup to say the least. Since it was discontinued for the Second Generation Pathfinders in 1995, a remanufactured engine is the best option available. It’s also a very cost effective option worthy of consideration.
Generation 2 Pathfinders were made from 1996 to 2004. Nissan stuck with a generation or model for a lot of years. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. So the major changes between generations are things like body changes and interior trim packages, but the engines in Nissan vehicles have always been know to last a long time and that has never changed. Here is the engine lineup for generation 2 Pathfinders;
3.3 L VG33E V6
168 hp (125 kW)
3.5 L VQ35DE V6
250 hp (190 kW)
2.7 L TD27ETi I4 Turbodiesel
127 hp (95 kW)
3.0 L ZD30DDTi I4 Turbodiesel
168 hp (125 kW)
3.2 L QD32ETi I4 Turbodiesel
150 hp (110 kW)
The 3rd generation Pathfinder, introduced in 2005 had some major changes and was literally completely redesigned. Stock power by the 4.0 L V6 engine code VQ40DE, the rest of the lineup goes like this;
2.5 L YD25DDTi I4 Turbodiesel
190 hp (142 kW) Note: (Non-US & Middle East models)
5.6 L VK56DE V8
310 hp (230 kW)
3.0 LV9X Engine V6 Turbodiesel
